i came across it while reading a world travel website that i regularly follow. basically, in your travels when you encounter someone or something that is worth remembering, making note of, or showing appreciation for you can pin it on your map and leave a little [or big] comment about your encounter. it's an incredible idea! AND if someone has an encounter with you and finds it noteworthy, there is a possibility of you coming across it in a search on the site. i wish i would have known about this during my travels to washington state and up through canada. i made quite a few connections with strangers that i won't forget. i will def be using it when i set out again. thanks world travel website for the find!

I will encourage you to go ahead and post those notes anyway as you don't have to remember anyone's name - only the location of your 'encounter'. Drop a pin and give a few details to identfy the occasion then share your appreciation - it's that simple!!

Um... sounds like such an amazing website! I wish I would have had about this years ago as I traveled Europe! I'll have to use it for future adventures! Thanks for sharing. :-)
this is rad! we needed this while driving down in the truck... you can post about the 12am creepy dude at the gas station in Oregon, or the dude who tried to "save" us in the Target parking lot in San Jose, but didn't help us with our tarp... in the rain.
